ADHD
and
Depression
My 2cent

I have ADHD and depression and have done years and years on therapy. Medications, IEP's, Friends, bullying. Now my second oldest was recently diagnosed with ADHD and depression.

What is ADHD?

Via Google machine

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

A chronic condition including attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.

ADHD often begins in childhood and can persist into adulthood. It may contribute to low self-esteem, troubled relationships, and difficulty at school or work.

Symptoms include limited attention and hyperactivity.

Treatments include medication and talk therapy.

Best way to describe what that means to someone who has no idea.

The way I explain ADHD and what its like to people who are clueless. Because If you don't have it you cannot understand. You can learn so much from books and classes but if you don't have it you just can't understand.

So let me help you understand a little. Imagine yourself in a gymnasium and there is 4 bands playing in each corner. Now imagine you are in the middle of the gymnasium and you are trying to listen to just one.

Now for some people that is all they have to deal with and it is not all the time. ( meaning it can kind of come in swings.) For others it is more severe.

Most people take medication for ADHD some don't need too. My daughter does take medication now and hopefully she can adjust her life and be able to coup with it better without medication like me. Now there is so many different types of medication and so many different ways to use those medications. Back when I as taking meds there was only maybe 3 to choose from. Man has the world changed since then. I would Highly recommend doing a cheek swab Called Genesight or something similar. This will tell you what medications work best for you, and which to steer clear of.

Depression

Via the google machine

A group of conditions associated with the elevation or lowering of a person's mood, such as depression or bipolar disorder.

Have you every felt sad? well I would say most of us have felt this way at one point or another. Have you ever been unmotivated?

Again I think everyone could say that about themselves. Have you every felt hopeless? Example ( Why should I even try to do anything no one is going to care.)

Now wrap that all together and you have what most people experience when they have depression. Now I am not talking about any other types of depression just your typical depression. I like most people that are clinically diagnosed have taken or are taking a perscription for drepression. I have taken a few different kinds, mostly when I was in middle school and high school. I no longer need to take anything But that doesn't mean that I Don't have it anymore. I also did TONS of therapy when I was younger and have learned how I can coup with it better.
